2 CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE
(a) We reserve the right to refuse any bet at the time it is offered and to declare void any selection time processed after the off, or any bet which contravenes the rules. In multiple or accumulative bets, void selections will be treated as non-runners.

(b) In the event of a bet giving rise to a dispute it is agreed that the matter will be submitted to IBAS and the decision given by the appropriate body shall be final and binding upon both parties.

(c) It is accepted that any instructions issued by means of a Press advertisement or by way of a notice displayed in our Betting Offices are to be read as being part of our Rules.

(d) Claims in respect of winnings will not be entertained if made later than 28 DAYS after the event.

(e) Doubles, Trebles and Accumulators are accepted Win and Each Way in our offices. Each Way Doubles, trebles etc., are calculated on a win to win, place to place basis, except where a client gives written instructions that their bet is to be settled by the equally divided method or a notice is displayed in the branch to that effect.

(f) To be valid, all bets in our shops must be processed through our shop security recording system prior to chosen event starting.

(g) Where we offer trading concessions additional to the trading terms on display in these rules, they are subject to the following limits unless otherwise displayed: Greater SP concession is offered on selected races.  Subject to terms displayed in individual offices.  Amended result concession is offered on all bets and to all stakes.  Amended result concession does not apply to the Grand National.  Amended result does not apply to winning distances or winning favourites markets

(h) In the event that no Starting Price is returned on any race, horses or greyhounds, all SP bets will be settled at tote odds, and be subject to the rules applicable to tote bets. Any bets on unnamed Favorites in such races will be void and treated as non runners.  An industry SP is counted as an SP.

(i) We reserve the right to refund void stakes by cheque.

(c) Wagers which include a selection not covered by full SIS/Turf TV/Terrestrial Service are subject to a maximum payment of £5,000.

(d) For greyhound meetings not covered by SIS/Turf TV/Terrestrial Service see greyhound rules.

4 CLIENT'S INSTRUCTIONS
(a) Should a selection/selections be incorrectly spelt the bet will be executed provided we are satisfied as to the identity of the selection/selections, however, if half of one horses or greyhounds name and half of another horse or greyhounds name is selected the stakes will be halved on each selection.  I.e. client write Red JACKET and both RED SHOE and BLACK JACKET are in the race then the stakes are split between each selection.  Should a selection not be fully identified, i.e. BLUE written when Blue Oyster and Blue Bird are running then the stakes will be split.

(b) When a client times a horse for a race in which it is not engaged the bet will stand for the race in which the horse actually runs.

(c) Where a horse is doubly engaged the bet will be settled for the race it actually runs in, unless the client states the time of the race for which he wishes his bet to stand.

(d) Should a bet be taken on a horse which runs twice in one day, then the bet will be executed on the first race that the horse runs in, unless otherwise stated on the betting slip. If, however, an alternative horse is given this will be taken as timing the commission for the race in which both horses are engaged.

(e) The advertised time of races, the returns and the results as published in the ‘Racing Post’ will govern the settlement of all bets, palpable errors excepted. The Instructions to the ‘first race’, ‘last race’, etc., will be determined by reference to the day’s programme as published in ‘Racing Post’ and, unless otherwise specified by the client, the instructions ‘through the card’ will be taken to refer to all the races at a meeting , horses or greyhounds, published in the advertised programme, e.g., should a client place a ‘Through the Card’ wager on any 7 race programme (for example) and write 15 doubles, the bet will be settled to 21 doubles and the stakes divided accordingly.

(f) Where a client gives an incorrect number of selections for a Yankee or similar bet, i.e. FIVE selections for a Yankee, a bet will be executed as a full cover (doubles upwards) on the number of selections given, and the stakes apportioned accordingly, where not enough selections are given, full cover to the requested unit stakes will be given and the excess returned.

(g) Where insufficient money is received to cover a wager or wagers on any slip, the bet or bets will be settled throughout as written and the total return will be apportioned to the amount staked, i.e. if £6.00 is staked for an £8.00 wager, the client will receive 3/4 of the total returns on that wager.  Where a client's total stake exceeds the instructions written, the excess will be refunded.

(h) Where more than one horse is backed in a race in doubles, trebles, etc., where they clash, stakes will be divided, i.e., in a Yankee when two selections run in the same race, where they come together half stakes will be put on each horse, the double becomes half stake singles, the treble becomes two half stake doubles, the fourfold becomes two half stake trebles. This rule also applies when a client selects the same horse twice.

(i) Where selections are written but no instructions appear the bet will be settled as a win accumulator irrespective of the number of selections.

(j) In the event of an original wager being returned to the client in error with his receipt, the bet will be declared void unless independent photographic evidence exists of the contents of the original bet.

(k) A WALK-OVER constitutes a race.

(l) Suffixes denoting country of origin will be deemed to be part of the name when two or more horses with the same name are engaged on the same day. Bets will be settled as for the horse with no suffix if none has been written by the client.

(m) Where part names of two horses/dogs are written the stakes will be equally divided on those selections.

(n) Where a client stipulates an alternative selection 'if absent', that selection must be in the same race as the original selection. Where an error has been made, that part of the bet will be declared void, win or lose.

(o) The last entry time for Irish lottery bets on the day of any draw is 7:45 pm. Any Irish Lottery bet placed after 7:45 pm on a Wednesday will go for Saturday's draw unless a specific date is nominated on the slip. Those placed on a Saturday after 7:45 will go onto the following Wednesday's draw unless a specific date is nominated on the slip.

(p) If a time (or time & meeting) stated, but no selection made, the fav will be inserted.

(q) Where a selection is written in the form of a number with the meeting stated but incorrectly timed, the bet will stand for the next race to be run at the nominated meeting after the acceptance of the bet. Where no time or meeting is stated, then the bet will stand for the next race to be run after acceptance of the bet.

(r) Where a time is stated, but no meeting determined, then the following order will stand:-
  1. UK
  2. Irish
  3. Foreign
  4. Virtual
So if a bet is placed on number 2 in the 3:35, and there is a 3:35 Bath, 3:35 Limerick and 3:35 Deaville, all on SIS/Turf/Terrestrial, the bet would stand as for the 3:35 Bath.  If the Bath race has already run, it would stand for the 3:35 Limerick, and so on.

5 PLACE BETTING AT STARTING PRICES
In horse races of 5, 6, or 7 runners we pay one-fourth the SP odds on the first two places. Where there are less than 5 runners place:

(a) money goes on to win.

(b) In horse races of 8 or more runners we pay one fifth the SP odds on the first 3 places except that

(c) In handicaps of 12 to 15 runners inclusive we pay one quarter the SP odds on the first 3 places and

(d) In handicaps of 16 or more runners inclusive we pay one quarter the SP odds on the first 4 places.

(e) Place only bets will not be accepted at SP returns unless special place betting odds apply, and unless such is the case, where a place investment is in excess of the amount staked on the horse to win, the difference will be settled at Totalisator Returns (Subject to Rule 16).

(f) Selected units may advise revised place terms including when the favourite starts odds on.

(g) We reserve the right to settle each way bets at one sixth of the odds when the favourite starts at odds of 4/6 or lower. We reserve the right to settle each way bets at one seventh of the odds when the favourite starts out at odds of ½ or lower.

6 ALTERATIONS
Commissions once received cannot be altered or cancelled unless by mutual consent.

7 ERRORS IN TRANSMISSION
In the event of a mistake in the transmission of prices, results, or any other information either by the SIS, Alphameric or any relevant supplier, or its agents, or by any member of our staff, such a mistake giving rise to a claim for greater or lesser payment than would otherwise have been due, the bet will be settled at Starting Price.
‘Show’ prices, results, etc., displayed in our offices are relayed in good faith but we cannot be held responsible for mistakes and the foregoing rule will be strictly adhered to.

8 BOARD PRICES
Any board price taken on a wager will apply to the selection throughout the slip. We do NOT lay ‘bar’ prices. Slips with board prices not initialled by staff will be settled at SP.  Were a board price is requested, the current price for the chosen selection according to our electronic till system at time of acceptance will apply to the bet, irrespective of what is stated on the slip.

9 PRICE RIGGING
Where there is evidence of price rigging either at Tote or Starting Price on horse or greyhound racing, we reserve the right to settle a Tote Bet at starting price or vice versa.

We accept bets on first and second favourites only. The favourite is the horse quoted in the official Starting Price Return at the shortest odds; the second favourite is the horse quoted at the next shortest odds. In any race where two horses are quoted at the same rate and this rate is shorter than that of any other horse in the race, then these two horses are joint first and second favourites.  Where a client uses the word ‘favourite’ or ‘second favourite’ to indicate his selection, his stake will be invested on the horse or horses defined above. If two or more horses are thus selected, his stake will be divided and invested equally among each of the horses selected. Un-named favourites are accepted WIN ONLY: any place part of a commission on an un-named favourite goes on to win. We do not accept unnamed favourites at Tote odds: any bets so taken in error will be settled at SP Returns. In the event of the withdrawal of the returned favourite if not under orders bets on un-named favourites will be settled as non runners, except in the case where more than one horse is returned as favourite, when the stake will be divided equally.

Should a favourite commission be received and the meeting not nominated, it will be executed as for the principal meeting, unless the bet is clearly timed for another meeting. The principal meeting is clearly defined, daily, in the Racing Post.

Where the selection is untimed but the meeting stated it will be taken as for the next race to be run after the time of acceptance. Where the selection is incorrectly timed but the meeting stated then it will be taken as for the next race to be run at that meeting after the time stated on the slip by the client.

Where no time or meeting is stated then the bet will be taken as for the next race to be run after acceptance of the bet. This rule also applies to Greyhound racing.

Where time and meeting is stated but no selection is made the stake money is invested on the favourite for that race or split according in the event of joint or co favourites.

Where no time but only the meeting is stated the stake money will be invested on the favourite in the next race at that meeting after acceptance of the bet.

For the “favourites” market bets are void if a meeting is not concluded. The exception to this is if the upper limit has been passed at the time of abandonment i.e. if the betting was for over 59, and 60 had been reached before abandonment then all bets would stand.

11 JOCKEY'S MOUNTS

In Jockeys Mounts if the actual races or the number of singles doubles, etc., are specified and the jockey rides less than the requisite number of mounts, the missing mounts will be treated as non-runners. If the number is not specified, the number of singles, doubles, etc., will be determined by the actual number of mounts the jockey rides and the stakes will be divided and invested accordingly. This will also apply to the case where the number of singles, doubles, etc., are specified but the jockey rides more than the requisite number of mounts. Where a jockey rides at two meetings in one day then the wager will be settled on the first meeting at which he rides unless otherwise specified.

12 OWNER'S AND TRAINERS SELECTED
The Owner’s or Trainer’s selected will be the single horse selected by the Owner or Trainer to run in a race or if two or more are selected, it will be the one starting at the shortest price, unless the horses start at the same price then the stakes will be divided. Rules for doubles and trebles stand as for bets on Jockeys Mounts. If no betting prices are returned, the first actual runner in the ‘Racing Post’ betting forecast will be substituted, if no such betting forecast, the lowest numbered actual runner will be substituted.

13 WALK-OVERS AND VOID RACES
These count as a race, so that if a horse is entered twice in one day, walks over in the two o’clock race and later runs in a race at three o’clock, bets stand for the walk-over unless specifically timed. Void races will be treated as non-runners for the purpose of calculating wagers. Thus a bet of fifteen doubles with one race declared void, resolves itself into five single bets and ten doubles. This also applies in the case where there are two meetings and one is abandoned. When races are named, as for instance first, second, or last race, they will be taken as placed in the days programme as printed in the ‘Racing Post’. Thus if £5 the last favourite is stated and the last race is cancelled or a walk-over the bet will be void.

14 ANY-TO-COME OR IF CASH

(a) When bets are made Any-to-come Each way singles, doubles, etc., and there is insufficient stake money in hand to cover all the selections, the win stake will be invested on the first single or double then the place stake on the first single or double and so on for all subsequent selections, in the order they are written.

(b) In deciding from which part of the bet the ‘any-to-come’ is to be applied, a drawn line will be read as indicating the end of the bet and the start of another.

(c) In the conditional part of an ‘any-to-come’ bet, if the stake is omitted the amount staked on the preceding selection will be invested.

(d) Obviously the returns from a selection in a race cannot go on to a selection in the same race.

(e) On betting slips, etc., any number of ‘X’s’ will be taken as ‘Up and Down’ single stakes only.  If the clients require double stakes about, they must clearly state this fact.

(f) We do not accept UP AND DOWN bets which include Forecasts, if taken in error they will be made void.

(g) Except in ‘Up and Down’ bets the ‘Any to come’ part of a wager must be in a later event than the original selection(s) i.e. if a bet is accepted £1 to win a selection which runs at 2.30 ATC £1 win a selection which runs at 2.00 (or multiple bets which start before 2.30) then the ATC portion will be void.

15 IF LOSE AND STOP AT A WINNER

This type of commission will only be accepted provided the horses or greyhounds are down the card.  For the purpose of setting this type of commission the words, “if lose “or” if win” do not include for non-runners.  Non-runners will be treated as a refund for that selection, but will not halt the bet.

16 TOTALISATOR BETTING - TOTE DIRECT

Where Tote Direct is available then all Tote Direct bets are accepted with no limit to winnings so long as bets are placed via the Tote Direct terminal.  Totalisator bets will be taken at horse race meetings which are covered by SIS, or the ‘Racing Post’.  The following bets are accepted for totalisator returns:-

WIN - EACH WAY - PLACE ONLY – EXACTA AND TOTE PLACEPOTS

Commissions are not accepted for Tote Jackpots or Scoop 6 bets, except via the Tote Direct terminal and if taken in error will be settled as an accumulator at SP odds, subject to Rule 16.

LIMITS TO TOTALISATOR BETS

Single totalistor bets (Win, Place and Each Way) placed on betting slips through the shop till system and not via the tote direct terminals shall be subject to a maximum unit stake of £25.On any bets taken in error above this amount, the excess shall be settled at the returned starting price of the selection(s)

All these types of wagers are subject to a limit of three times the starting price returns except for Exacta which are subject to a limit of two times the computer straight forecast.

All tote bets must be clearly stated and unless Tote has been stipulated (or Exacta) all bets will be settled at Starting Price or in the case of Forecasts computer straight forecast return.

We are bound by the specific rules as issued by the Horserace Totalisator Board (available on request from our Head Office).

Where non-runners occur on Tote bets placed through our Tote terminals, the standard tote rules apply. Where tote bets are accepted through the shop tills then our standard rules apply to non-runners we reserve the right to insist that where available, all tote bets are processed through the Tote direct terminal.

All bets placed through the tote terminal are subject to tote rules, and as such our double result offer does not apply.  However, if tote bets are taken through our tills, ie. not in the pool, then our double result offer does apply.

17 FORECASTS

Subject to the following rules forecasts are accepted in Singles and Doubles by SIS. Forecast trebles are not accepted.  Forecast accumulators are not accepted and if taken in error will be declared void win or lose.  In a forecast if the same selection is repeated, or if the selection runs in different races, then the stakes money will be split as win singles returns for which will be subject to a tax deduction.  If a forecast contains a non-runner then the stake will be invested as a win single on the remaining selection.  Forecasts are accepted in races of three or more runners, and settled in accordance with the officially declared computer forecast returns unless a dual forecast has been clearly stated in which case it will be settled at Tote returns subject to Rule 16.  Forecast Trebles are not accepted and if taken in error will be declared void, win or lose, unless in a forecast patent.  In the event of three selections being stated for a straight forecast bet, the forecast will be settled on the first 2 as written.

18 TRICASTS

Select three horses to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in correct order. Unnamed favourites not accepted. Tricasts will be settled in accordance with official computer return. A Tricast including an unnamed favourite selection will be declared void. Should selections for a Tricast include one non-runner, the stake will be invested as a computer straight forecast on the remaining two selections in the order written with the non-runner being discounted.

(a) In the case of a combination tricast with a non-runner, the total amount will be settled as a reversed forecast on the remaining selections. Should selections for a tricast include two non-runners, the stake will be invested as a win single at starting price on the remaining selection.

(b) If for any reason a tricast is accepted on a race which does not return a tricast dividend then the bet will be settled as a straight forecast on the first two selections named and with combination tricast the bet will be settled as combination forecasts. Tricasts are only accepted in singles. Tricast doubles and upwards are not accepted and if taken in error will be void. If a tricast contains selections in different races, it will be voided.

19 LATE WITHDRAWALS
      OBJECTIONS & RE-RUN RACES

Where a horse is withdrawn before coming under starters orders, or in the event of disqualification, wagers will be settled in accordance with Tattersall Rules.  In the event of a horse race being re-run all commissions will stand for the re-run race.  Board prices taken on the original race will be cancelled and the bets settled at SP. Horses which come under Starters Orders on the original race will be considered losers if not taking part in the re-run race, unless otherwise announced.

20 GREYHOUNDS

Under the foregoing general rules and conditions and subject to any alterations to such rules given below we accept commissions for greyhounds whether by name or trap number.  Any bet accepted for any Greyhound racing cumulative Pool will be void.  We do not accept any Tote bets for greyhound racing.  Any such bet taken in error will be settled at SP.  Greyhound limit – Where a greyhound is included and the race/races are not covered by a full SIS service wagers are subject to a maximum payment of £5,000 see rule 3(d).  Place betting – For greyhound commissions at starting price we pay one quarter the odds 1-2 for five, six or seven runners, and one-fifth the odds 1-2-3 for eight runners or above.  Less than five runners the stake goes on to win.  Unnamed favourites in greyhound racing are accepted.  We do not accept wagers for unnamed second or third favourites for greyhound racing.  We do not accept unnamed favourites in any forecast wager: any taken in error will be declared void.  Greyhound Forecasts and Tricasts – Forecasts for BAGS Meetings or meetings fully covered by SIS will be paid in accordance with the computer straight forecast return.  Forecasts accepted for evening meetings or meetings not covered by SIS will be paid in accordance with the dividends declared by the chart forecast.  Where a bet is accepted for forecast doubles through the card and more races are run than the amount staked for, then the bet will be equally divided over the number of races run at the meeting.  For example bets staked for eight races and there are ten races run, then the total will be divided up i.e. ten singles instead of eight or forty five straight forecast doubles instead of twenty-eight.  We accept forecast singles, doubles, and tricasts singles only: any larger accumulative bets accepted in error will be void.

For morning/afternoon greyhound meetings which are fully covered by SIS the following rules will apply. Where a bet is accepted and timed for afternoon greyhounds and no meeting or the wrong meeting is stated, the bet will be executed on that afternoon’s greyhound meeting as timed.  If a bet is taken on trap numbers and it is timed for a race that has already been run, then the bet will be void.  If a bet is left untimed or has the wrong time, then the bet will stand for the next race to be run after acceptance of the bet. In the case of evening greyhounds the bet will be declared void.  We reserve the right not to accept bets once the hare is running. We do not accept bets on evening greyhounds that are not covered live on national television unless specifically authorised by the shop manager.  Re-run races. When a race is declared void and is re-run, all bets will stand for the greyhounds that take part in the re-run, but bets maybe cancelled by mutual agreement.  The prices returned on the re-run will rule the settling.  Board prices laid in void races, will not be valid for the re-run, and such bets will be settled at SP.  A re-run greyhound race is taken in the order in which it was originally placed on the programme, and no notice is taken of the time of the re-run.  When a race is declared void and is not re-run, all bets on that race will be void, and will not count for any additional reserve race.  If a bet is taken in error it will be declared void, win or lose.

21 ANTE POST

Ante post wagers are accepted at quoted prices, on the basis of all in, run or not, entered or not.  Returns for accumulative bets will be settled in the same manner as for SP bets.  The only exception to the first paragraph are as laid down in Tatersalls rules which provide:-

Single ante post bets will be void if the race is abandoned, declared void, or if the conditions of the race are altered after bets are made.  Single bets on a horse balloted out under jockey club rules will also be void.  In any such cases, accumulative, ante post bets will stand on the remaining legs, at the prices laid on the selections in those races, with a double becoming a single, treble becoming a double, etc.

22 DEAD HEATS

In the event of a dead heat for first place, stake money on each of the horse will be divided by the number of horses in the dead heat.  Full odds will be paid to the divided stake with the remainder of the money being lost.  In a dead heat for second place, place bets are settled to full stake if there are more than seven runners in the race.  If there are six or seven runners the backer gets full place odds to half his stake.  In a dead heat for third place with more than seven runners in the race and where only three places are paid, place bets are settled to full odds to half the stake if only two are involved in the dead heat.  If four places are being paid place bets are settled at full place odds.  In a dead heat for fourth place when four places are being paid place bets are settled at full odds to half the stakes, the other half being lost.

23 RULES OF BETTING

Tattersalls Rules of Betting will apply in situations not covered by the above Rules.  All bets are subject to Deductions at the rate displayed in the Office in which the bet was placed.  We cannot undertake to advise clients of any errors in their instructions or points on which they are at variance with our Rules although every effort will be made to do so when possible.

24 SPECIALITY BETS

We have a range of bets available for Dogs, Horses and Football, with bonuses and consolations built into the bet. Full details of the rules for these bets can be found on the appropriate specially-printed slips.

25 OVERSEAS BETTING

Bets will be accepted as long as runners, riders and results are printed in the Racing Post or specifically produced race cards displayed in our shops. Any bets inadvertently accepted that are outside this scope are automatically void win or lose.

Pari-Mutuel Bets accepted (PMU). We accept bets at 'P.M.U' returns for the 'Win', 'Place' and 'Show' pools. For the 'Place' and 'Show pools, Singles and Each-Way bets only will be accepted. Any 'Place' or 'Show' Multiple bet accepted in error will be void. Any bets accepted in error for a pool other than these will be void, win or lose.  Any bet accepted where 'P.M.U' is not instructed and where no price is written on the slip will be settled at 'P.M.U' returns, unless an SP is returned.  No placepots are accepted.

In countries where a 'Show Pool' (i.e. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places) operates, the place part of Each-Way bets settled at 'P.M.U' returns will be settled in accordance with the 'Show' dividend, except in races of 5,6 and 7 runners where the 'Place' pool dividend (i.e. 1st and 2nd places) will be used).

Horses in the same ownership are generally coupled in the 'Win Pool' only. However in some countries, horses are coupled in all pools and coupling may occur for reasons other than ownership. The Place part of Each-Way bets will be settled in accordance with the returned place dividend. The majority of overseas racing is operated as pool betting, and as such no favourite is returned.  However, it is the case that there is usually a price guide on our screens, Where that is the case we will pay on the shortest price selection as being the returned favourite with joint and co favourite rule applied.  In the event of no price guide being available then the bet will be voided, and the onus is on the client at all time to stipulate the exact selection they require.

26 FOOTBALL BETTING

A figure 1 denotes a home-win, 2 an away-win, and x a draw.
Minimum and maximum stakes where they apply, are printed on the coupons. If insufficient cash is received, settlement will be in proportion to what the stake should have been.
Only machines listed on coupons, SIS screens or advertisements may be selected.

Bets are taken up to the official kick off time. Bets inadvertently taken up to 5 minutes after the kick off will stand provided no significant event has occurred (goal scored / penalty awarded / player sent off / etc). Should a game kick off earlier than scheduled then the actual kick off time will stand for settling purposes.  The exception to this will be where we offer “Betting in Running” where the relevant price will stand at the time placed.

All bets will be settled as accumulators, based on the individual odds quoted on the coupon or advertisement.
Permutations are accepted, provided instructions are clear and capable of only one interpretation. Any-To-Come, or 'plans', are not accepted and if taken in error will be void.
Selections for matches that kick off prior to the bet being accepted will be void.
Where the venue of a match is reversed, or a match played on neutral ground, selections for that match will be void, unless the fact that it is being played on neutral ground is printed on the coupon, SIS screen or advertisement.
Any match not played or postponed will be treated as void unless it is played on a Sunday or Monday immediately following a Saturday fixture, or in the case of a weekday fixture up to and including the following Monday.
